Empowering Every Ability
Strength in unity, compassion in action, dignity for every individual, building brighter tomorrows.
Together, we are creating a community where every person — regardless of ability — is seen, valued, supported, and empowered to live a meaningful life.
About Us
The Riley Rushin Foundation was born from a family’s love and transformed into a mission of hope. Founded by the Rushin family in memory of their beloved daughter Riley, our foundation stands as a beacon of support for individuals with disabilities and their dedicated caregivers. We believe in creating a world where every person, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to thrive and live their fullest life.

Our Impact
We are dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities and providing vital support to their caregivers. Through meaningful partnerships with local organizations and community engagement, we work to create a more inclusive and understanding world where every person has the opportunity to thrive. Based in the Triangle area of North Carolina, we collaborate with respected programs including the Tammy Lynn Center (TLC), ARC of NC, Alliance of Disability Associates, and Special Olympics of Wake County. Together, we’re building a network of support that touches lives across our community.
Our Riley
Riley was like most kids. She was resilient and quite hard-headed. She started her journey on this Earth 77 days prematurely, and after 11 weeks of ups and downs she finally came home from the NICU at 4lb 5oz. There were things that Riley couldn’t do. She couldn’t walk. She couldn’t talk. She couldn’t do many things other people take for granted every day. But there were so many other things she could do.
She could smile. She could laugh. She could feel unbridled happiness. She could love without condition. She could show her love without ever saying a word. Not everyone has those abilities. Her special needs did not keep her from bringing happiness to people with her infectious smile and laughter. Her communication style was unique and all her own, without words. Throughout her 12 years of life, she had a team of compassionate doctors, specialists, support group, teachers, and at home nurses that supported Riley and her family.
